Leadership styles of the leader

From the interview, one style of leadership from the leader was transformational leadership: This is the kind of leadership where the leader strives to improve the current situation, in the organization. The leader has to inspire others, lead by example, mind other people needs first, and mostly does not settle for the status quo. This is supported by the fact that in response to the healthcare reforms and incentives question, the leader prefers to major on the opportunities they will bring the organization i.e. the positives and does not pay much attention on the negatives.

Charismatic leadership: where the leader has ability to naturally inspire people to do their work well by having a charismatic attitude. This is supported by the fact that the leader believes that passion and charisma in his leadership will get the desired goals to be achieved. The other type of leadership style is Servant leadership style: in this the leader leads by example, i.e. leading and others follow. This is evident because the leader believes in leading by example by doing exactly what the organization expects him to achieve and also sees himself as a provider to the customers and the organization.

The other style is Democratic leadership style: can also be termed as participative leadership because the leader allows other members of the organization to help in decision making though only the leader will make the final decision. It is seen that the leader agrees that health care leaders are required to get information from other departments and also work together with groups of people, such as: doctors, employees, the board of directors, and also the leaders in the community.

How the leadership styles fit the definitions of any particular or combination of leadership theories

Leadership theories that have various leadership styles involved with them which helps in defining them. The transformation leadership style fits properly with the trait theories which advocate what characteristics a good leader should have, which include intelligence, leading by example, and minding others first Contingency theories which are also termed as situational theories advocates that the choice of leadership style depends with the situation at hand. This means that it requires the leadership styles to change depending with the situation to give the best results thus all leadership styles are involved. Behavioral theories focus on what a good leader does and it involves the democratic leadership style in this context.

Organizational behavior/culture issue the leader participated in addressing and his/her role

The leader argues that health care leaders should work together with the different groups such as surgeons, leaders from the community, their employees and the board of directors. This is important because it helps the leaders gather necessary information to help them in decision making. The organization has got a vision statement which describes their goal which the leader has the role of installing this principle in the organization culture so that the staff can achieve these goals.

The positive and negative results due to, the leadership approach used in terms of, organizational behavior and culture

Different leadership approaches are used by different leaders in dealing with members of their organization. These leaders have a great responsibility of developing and maintaining organization culture that makes the organization to excel while, still being fair to its workers. Good leadership approach (styles) especially the ones that involve the employees in decision making leads to development of a good organization culture which leads to boosted morale from the employees which leads to better performance of the organization. On other hand, poor leadership style leads to poor organization culture which in turn kills the employees’ morale because they feel that they are not treated well as they should.

A strong academic and good professional qualifications ensure that the leader knows properly what he/she is doing which will make the organization prosper while an under qualified leader will lead the organization astray. It is also important for the organization to be of help to the community and the environment around it by providing employment and fair pricing because the organization gets revenue from the community. Other important factors that leaders should use to develop a good organization culture and behavior is having a good problem solving process in the organization where dialogue is encouraged otherwise poor problem solving may lead to frequent employees strikes and unfair promotions and demotions. Thus the greatest advantage of good organization culture and behavior due to good leadership is prosperity and the lack of it leads kills the employees’ morale leading to poor performance.
