Analysis of Design in Terms of Concept and Reception

Design involves creation of a plan or conviction for the construction of an object or a system. Limitation of Technological Design

Technological design faces some challenges that lower its effective application. For instance, technology is believed to be more in the line of science, as compared to the field of art. This hinders the use and application of technology as means of design communication, as it would imply the information been communicated is passive from other sources. In this design, the information is majorly based on the accessibility and appearance of the technological reasoning, rather than in the truth and validity. As a result, this puts a challenge on the design work.

The extent of the technological design is limited only to the areas that can be served by the internet and only among the computer literate persons. This hinders the success of the design since this success is measured by its appealing interest, and values and opinions that the design type has on the users but not on the expertise of the designers.

Visual Design

This is another type of design, where the ones practice it may be as actual artists. The main aim of this design type is to give the product a sense of unique quality that will evoke the desired emotional response from the users of the artwork. The designers subject their senses, and emotions when coming up with the work. Visual design is the most esthetic and subjective design type, but also it is the most recognized one.

The designers have the responsibility of crafting and delivering an ethos of the product after obtaining cues from product and interface designers (Montgomery).

According to Montgomery, the visual designers spend a big share of their development time fine-tuning the interface elements, so that they are both attractive and appropriately toned, as they depict the quality, purpose and value of the product to the users. One of the most outstanding skills of a good visual designer is the ability to make a product pleasing without making it overly conspicuous. Compared to the technological design, visual design gives more persuasion to the users, and it is more valid since the designer can be easily traced for any clarification. In addition, these designers spend most of their time on detail, so as to deliver high resolution images, animations and any other user ready aspects that are easily incorporated into the final product for the purpose of ease or use of the product.

The visual designers incorporate a greater amount of their emotions in their design work. Therefore, it creates the high level of persuasion, compared to technological design. This is through the physical movement and gestures made in representing the use of the object or the lines: colors or the patterns used in the art. The high level of persuasion also results in a greater argument power over the technology design.

The limitation of the validity of the design work from the technological design can be eliminated by having the designers present the product to the users that are achieved through the visual design work.

Some of the limitation associated with visual design is the great amount of time and attention it captures from designers. A design work must meet a high level of representation of the actual product in order to be understood effectively by the users. In conclusion, this design element limits the environmental coverage and offers more persuasive information to the users.
