Introduction to Humanities

Humanities refer to academic discipline that involves the study of human culture. It uses methods that are critical and have a historical element. The elements used in humanities are different from those of other natural sciences. Humanities include religion, visual arts, music, literature, languages and philosophy. Humanity studies go beyond what we need to survive. It involves the study of a real life. It revolves around what the ancestors passed to us and what shall pass to future generations. Humanities touch the life of individuals in a way well known to them. In the introduction to humanities, I studied important aspects that will shape my life.

I learnt the importance of religion in a society

Religion plays a very vital role in any society. It unifies people and provides a sense of belonging. The religious values from any religion help in shaping personality values. Religion has changed my reasoning in one way or the other. In this case, I have come to learn that my purpose is not just to live. I am expected to make the world a better place for other individuals in the society.

In humanities, I studied different cultures. This has promoted my intellectual awareness significantly. The opportunity to explore through the various cultures has helped me a lot. This has enabled me to appreciate and respect the cultures of different individuals. I believe that this will aid in promoting peaceful coexistence between individuals from different cultures.

In humanity, I have learned philosophy

I have learned how to differentiate between wrongs and rights. This has aided a lot in my social life. I have been able to make quality decisions on various issues in life. I have been able to uphold the dignity and respect for humankind. This will enable me to live a happy and dignified life.
